Bike Petersburg and Wrangell – 6 days

Day 1

Fly on Alaska Airlines into Petersburg. Secure lodging for two nights.

Day 2

Take chartered boat to LeConte Glacier to see harbor seals and calving glacier. Watch for humpback whales in Frederick Sound.

Day 3

Rent a bicycle and ride the Loop (4.5 miles). Along the way, you can stop at Sandy Beach Park and see the petroglyphs or hike along the City Creek trail. For those seeking a longer ride, the Mitkof Highway Recreation Corridor extends 33 miles along a paved highway with light traffic. Scenic stops include the Falls Creek fish pass and Blind River Rapids. 

Day 4

Take the Alaska Marine Highway (or arrange for a water-taxi) to Wrangell. Hike Mount Dewey. Stay at a bed and breakfast for two nights.

Day 5

Ride the Nemo Loop Road bike route.

Day 6

Opt to extend your trip by hiring a water taxi for an overnight adventure in one of the many public use cabins in the Tongass National Forest. Other activities to partake during your spare time: In Petersburg: Clausen Memorial Museum, HIke the City Creek Trail at Sandy Beach Park, and in Wrangell, visit the Wrangell Nolan Center, Chief Shake’s House, Petroglyph Beach State Park.
